Yoga Pants in Geisha

Working as a stylist, nanny, and yoga instructor has left me very little free time to create.  I altered these yoga pants that I will wear teaching tonight because it was a quick project.  I like making/altering things that are multi functional.  These are yoga pants, but with the addition of the geisha material they have enough pizazz to wear out and about for a comfortable yet stylish, unique look.   I just took fabric from a vintage dress, cut it, sewed it to the pants, then added elastic for a stronger wait band.

Homemade Waffles!

This is my recipe for waffles.  I started with a Betty Crocker recipe and tweaked it in order to make a healthier waffle that is still tasty!  I like to freeze the leftovers and pop them in the toaster for a quick breakfast or for dessert toast then add ice cream.  Freeze them on a cookie sheet then store them in a plastic bag.

Ingredients:
2 large eggs
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 3/4 cups unsweetened soy or cocoa   nut milk (if sweetened, skip sugar)
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1/2 cup applesauce, pumpkin or jelly (I like  Crofter's strawberry)
1 Tbsp. pure cane sugar *optional (or desired sweetener)
3 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt *optional
cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice *optional

Directions:
1. Heat and spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray.
2. Beat eggs in a large bowl. Add the 1/2 the flour and 1/2 the milk, the the rest of the flour and milk so that it mixes easily.
3. Add the remaining ingredients.
4. Add mix to waffle iron about 1 cup per waffle, cooking for 5-6 minutes each.
5. Add desired toppings and enjoy!

Today I topped my waffle with sliced banana and maple syrup.  My favorite topping is strawberries.  Cut up strawberries and place them in a pan on medium heat adding sugar. Cook the strawberries and sugar until they become soft and juicy (10 min.). Pour over waffles, this also goes very well with a waffle quarter and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

All mixed up and ready to go!

Fashion on Friday

Last night my boyfriend, Paul and I went to the Spring City Hotel for a great dinner (they make THE best crab cakes!) and some awesome live music by the "Lights Out Duet".  Paul's Uncle Len and another talented gentleman make up the singing, guitar playing classic rock duo. It was a great night out.
When we got home I decided to learn a little bit about the settings on my camera.  Now, I'v had this thing for 2 and a half years, so it's about time.  In comes the creation of my first fashion blog.  the pictures aren't great, but hopefully they will get better with practice.
My first round of learning how to use the self timer.  I wasn't ready for the picture to take, and I like that.

I got the self timer down, but there are so many more settings!

a bargain

I went to Marshall's yesterday to buy a clear plastic tote bag for work.  I didn't find a clear bag, but I did find this sweet birdcage! Is it still a bargain if it wasn't on the shopping list?  I don't know, but I am going back for another.  There are small and large cages. This is the small.
As you see here, I turned it into a jewelry/ hair accessory holder.  The top opens up as well as the little door, and it has a hook so it can be hung too! I thought of some other great uses for it as well. I want to put a plant in one and hang it. It would also make a lovely candle holder, or it could be turned into nifty lamp. The possibilities are endless!

yoga mat tote in sun greetings

This is my latest creation, a yoga mat tote in sun greetings. Like this one, the interior of all my mat totes will be constructed out of a material that has slip to it . I use a Jade Yoga mat because of its superior grip, however this grip makes it difficult to get the mat into and out of other totes. Problem solved- beautifully.
